Pedodontics

Pedodontics (Pediatric Dentistry) is the branch of dentistry focused on the oral health of children from infancy through adolescence. It aims to prevent, diagnose, and treat dental problems in children while ensuring a comfortable and positive dental experience. Pediatric dental care is essential for maintaining healthy primary (baby) teeth, which play a key role in speech development, chewing, and guiding permanent teeth into proper position.

Children’s dentistry includes preventive care, restorative treatments, and early intervention to avoid future complications. Treatment is always performed in a child-friendly environment using gentle techniques and behavior management approaches to reduce anxiety and build trust.

Fillings

Children’s fillings are used to treat cavities caused by tooth decay. Depending on the case, materials such as composite or glass ionomer may be used to restore the tooth’s shape and function while preventing further decay.

Root Canal Treatment (Pulp Therapy)

In children, root canal treatment is often referred to as pulp therapy or baby tooth nerve treatment. It is used when decay or infection reaches the pulp of a primary tooth. The goal is to remove infection, relieve pain, and preserve the tooth until it naturally falls out at the appropriate age.

Stainless Steel and Zirconia Crowns

Stainless steel crowns are commonly used in pediatric dentistry to restore severely decayed or damaged back teeth. They are strong, durable, and cost-effective.
Zirconia crowns are a more aesthetic option, offering tooth-colored restorations with excellent strength and appearance, especially for front teeth.

Extractions

Children’s extractions are performed when a tooth is severely decayed, infected, or preventing proper eruption of permanent teeth. The procedure is done gently under local anesthesia to ensure comfort and minimize anxiety.

Scaling and Polishing

Scaling and polishing are preventive procedures used to remove plaque, tartar, and surface stains from children’s teeth. This helps maintain healthy gums, prevent cavities, and promote good oral hygiene habits from an early age.

Pedodontic care focuses on prevention, early treatment, and creating a positive dental experience that encourages lifelong oral health habits. With regular checkups and proper care, children can maintain healthy teeth and gums throughout their growth and development.
